Hello All,
Years ago I planned out a scenario sequence for a Spanish campaign, spanning from the adventures of El Cid to the conquest of the Aztec/Inca Empire. I've read a rumor that there was a Spanish Campaign originally planned for the base game, is there any sources or leads on that rumor? I'd love to find out if there were any shownotes or planning done on this dropped scenario.
In general, I'm interested in using the unused models in the scenario editor.

Hi Spartasman1
Yes there was a plan for a Spanish Campaign orginally. I remember seeing a post on Instagram from Empire Earth Reborn a few years ago with the campaign plan. I also think there were some discussion on the EE Reborn discord some years ago. But I do not know much other than that.

Ah, well it looks like it's time for me to do a deep dive. Thank you for the lead!

I dug this up from a former dev (I think his title was campaign lead to be precise):
"Something odd is I found 3 different Spanish Empire scenarios I had started, El Cid, the Spanish Armada (from Spain's perspective, unlike the one from the English side for that campaign), and a Caribbean one. These are numbered as if they were meant for a much larger Spanish campaign but I'm not remembering enough about this. I think early on this was possibly going to be my own campaign contribution to the game but got cut for overlapping with the English campaign and to have me spend more of my time managing development of the other ones. I have the El Cid scenario labeled as 'Spanish 4', so this would have covered a decent range of Epochs given that El Cid is an 11th century Hero and there were possibly 3 more scenarios before this one."

Hey Hitjuich,
Thanks for the help, I got on the discord and found that post, as well as some other interesting tidbits from Eggman. I sent him a message to pick his brain but I doubt I'll hear back, it looks like his last post there was some time ago and he dropped his stated plans for making the Lost Scenarios. I did nab the audio introductions for them though, as well as some plans for one of the canceled German missions I might play around with.
Anyway, it's interesting because El Cid is my planned start point for my Campaign, as it doesn't really seem like there's a period before that that I can fit in given the units and hero characters in the game. I'm not sure if there are any mods out there that add entire new units to the game roster? I like some of the reskin mods I see out there but like I said before I prefer to keep to the original unit models, it's just a shame they built them all around the campaigns they made for the game, it kind of limits how authentic you be.

Anyway, the plans I had/have for the campaign go like this;
The first 3 scenarios would cover El Cid
Scenario 1: El Cid fighting for his King Sancho, fighting Moors/The Basques, then Sanco's brother's. Scenario 2: El Cid in Exile fighting for the Muslim King of Zaragoza, against bandits/other Moorish kingdoms and invading Christians. Scenario 3: El Cid conquering Valencia, Fighting Valencia, the Almohads, and possibly a third enemy faction like bandits.
After that a Time jump. I have two ideas for scenarios after this;
The first one would be either a one or two scenario story covering the battle of Las Navas de Tolosa and the aftermath, but I'm not sure if it would be best to merge the two ideas into one mega scenario or have it broken into two. I think it would be very fun though, especially the aftermath part, as I would have the player competing on a time limit against other allied players to conquer a certain number of settlements for victory.
The second idea would cover the battle of Rio Salada and the siege of Algeciras in one scenario, kind of more straight forward, a set piece battle followed by a siege involving naval elements. Essentially the same as the second Alexander scenario in the Greek campaign.
I could do both ideas, but we'll see.
After that would be a series of scenarios covering the reign of Isabella, the civil war in Castille, the conquest of Granada, and then a scenario covering the beginning of the Italian wars. I've also had the idea of a naval mission focused against the Turks.
After that, I think one or two scenarios in the America's. Obviously the conquest of the Aztecs and the Inca are the candidates. given that there's Incan infantry in the game I'm leaning towards that one, though the conquest of the Aztecs offers a better narrative for scenario building I think.
Anyway that the general plan as of right now. I'm on vacation next week so after that I'll revisit this and start mucking around in the scenario editor.
