I have been a little stuck with creating Elevation Maps. I don't know if it is possible but I wanted to create a world map to play with my mates. I know how to make multiplayer games and how to edit them in scanrio editor, but having a world map elevation file would make things so much easier.
I'm not the only one who has been stuck with creating elevation maps. Would someone be able to help me create one, even post a video if possible. Thanks

You don't have to use an elevation map, there're plenty of world map templates on EEH.

I would need a elevation data file however if I would like to play multiplayer. Cause to make a multiplayer game, what I do is create one, save it, change the file format so its editable in scenario editor, create and design my own map. Once I'm happy, I change it back to .ess multiplayer file then I play it. But if I wanted a world map, as soon as I load a world map up it would get rid of my multiplayer save game. Unless I had a elevation data file.
And on normal scenario editor, I can't see anyway of creating a multiplayer game by using that on its own from scratch. When I've tried before, it didn't work.

I managed to create a world map elevation data file but however I'm having trouble. I followed instructions how to do it. A certain website said I should use the following: "Water Depth 2 or 3 Water Cutoff around 1000 Land Height 9 or 10 Land Cutoff 2000 or 3000" But however I can't get the map to come out properly. I don't even know what Map Width I should use. I've noticed at Map Width 200, the game crashes.
I have followed all the instructions such as downloaded the file from that website, putting them latitude cells into a text document, etc. I don't know how to sort it out. I used the following for a world map: "The World: North 90 South -90 West -180 East 180" Apart from I removed the "-"'s because they don't allow you to enter that character into the fields.

does it look at least a little like the earth if you use width of less than 150? - if so, your file is ok and you simply have to play around a little with the numbers in the water depth, cutoff, etc. sections.
- if not you messed up with your elevation .dat or. txt
I also suggest not using elevation files. in most cases they produce disappointingly bad maps.
